What Does the Outagamie County Board Do?

The Role of the County Board

The Outagamie County Board serves as the legislative and oversight body for Outagamie County.

The County Board is a nonpartisan body, and supervisors are elected to represent their districts rather than political parties. Supervisors are elected to two-year terms and serve residents across the county.

In practical terms, the County Board:

  • sets county policy
  • approves the county budget
  • provides oversight of county departments and services
  • represents residents through elected district supervisors

Board members do not manage the day-to-day operations of county departments. Instead, they focus on policy, oversight, long-term planning, and accountability.

LEarn more about the county board

The County Board typically meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

Meetings are held at the Outagamie County Courthouse, in the County Board Room, and are open to the public.

Residents are welcome to attend meetings, observe discussions, and follow the work of their elected supervisors.Carla for County Board is a new website that provides X, Y, and Z services to users.

County services touch many parts of everyday life, including:

  • Public safety and emergency services
Oversight of systems that help keep people safe and respond to emergencies.
  • Health and human services
Programs that support public health, mental health, aging services, and families and individuals in need.
  • Infrastructure and county facilities
Roads, buildings, and planning for county-owned property and long-term investments.
  • Housing and community stability
Policies and partnerships that influence housing access, homelessness prevention, and community well-being.
  • The county budget
Reviewing and approving how taxpayer dollars are allocated and spent.

The County Board’s responsibility is to ensure these services are effective, fiscally responsible, and aligned with community needs.

It is just as important to understand what the County Board does not do.

County Board members:

  • do not manage county employees or departments
  • do not respond to individual emergency calls
  • do not govern cities, villages, or school districts
  • do not make decisions on their own

Board decisions are made collectively, through public meetings, committee work, and collaboration with county leadership.

Much of county government happens behind the scenes, but its impact is real. County Board decisions influence:

  • how public resources are used
  • what services are available and accessible
  • long-term planning for growth and infrastructure
  • how well county systems respond to community needs

Thoughtful oversight, clear priorities, and informed decision-making help ensure county government works for the people it serves.em.
